The Secret Garden

The Big Lottery Fund and National Lottery operator, Camelot Group plc, ran a "Your pound, Your choice" trial in the Plymouth area in the summer.  Local people were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite project to benefit from grants of up to £50,000.

The Secret Sensory Garden project at the Child Development Centre received the highest number of votes, 1,289 out of a total of over 3,500.  The project received a Big Lottery Fund grant which was used to create a safe and secure sensory garden for the Plymouth Child Development Centre at Scott Hospital.  The garden allows local children with disabilities to experience different sounds, textures and smells.
